It's been a bit (like, since May) since I did a post of just what I'm up to and what I'm into instead of a "My [Blank] in Media" post. So, here's what's going on:
I've already watched eight movies in 11 days, plus finished one book and read the entirety of another. I always start the year off pretty strong and then taper off a bit as more life things come up, so I'm following my own pattern so far.
Here's my "Winter 2019/2020" playlist as it stands right now. My best music discovery of the year so far has been The Bird and The Bee's Van Halen cover album, which feels so tailor-made for me that it kind-of took my breath away the first time I listened to it. I'm also still listening to KAYE's "Closer Than This" like, at least once a day. You should watch the video right now:
As of right now, I've only bought tickets for one show this year: Harry Styles in San Antonio in August. I actually surprised my sister with a ticket for Christmas, which was fun – everyone knew she was getting it except her. I'd really love to see Kesha when she comes to town in April, but the sticker shock was too real when tickets went on sale. We'll see if I change my mind.
At the start of the month, I wrote that I'm trying to be a little softer this year. I'm actually a pretty compassionate person, but sometimes that can get lost in my need to have everyone know I'm smart. I can be very critical and bossy and while I'm very good at complaining, I'm not always the best at expressing the nice things I feel. I also worry a lot. So, I'm trying to work on all that – be kinder, tell people I care about them, etc. Part of that definitely comes from being someone's girlfriend for the first time in my life.
Speaking of that, my boyfriend is coming to visit me in a month. He lives in Pennsylvania, which I'm convinced makes people think he's imaginary when I talk about him ("in addition to the number of girls in the Niagra Falls area..."). He is, in fact, a real person, but we have not been in the same place since we met, which was before we decided to date. So, his visiting Austin is a big, exciting deal. We've done a very good job of creating a relationship out of things like talking on the phone but it's going to be so great to just...occupy the same space.
Things I'm into right now: putting Bob's Burgers on in the background while I'm doing things; O'Dell Brewing Company's Sippin' Pretty and its packaging; personalized playlists; my new dining room table and chairs; learning to cook more; H-E-B's scratch-made sourdough bread.
